What a carrier can and cannot verify
| Buyer absent risk | Carrier limit | Safer process |
|---|---|---|
| Seller changes item at pickup | Carrier may not know the exact item history. | Send a photo checklist with plate, serial or unique marks. |
| Payment before proof | Carrier cannot reverse a seller payment. | Use written stages and avoid full payment before verification. |
| Hidden damage | Carrier sees visible condition only. | Ask for close-up pickup photos and inspect again at delivery. |
| Ownership unclear | Carrier cannot judge legal transfer. | Resolve documents before transport starts. |
Pickup proof checklist
- Seller name and pickup contact confirmed in writing.
- Item photos match the listing and include plate, serial number or unique marks.
- Visible condition photos from all sides before loading.
- Photo of item at pickup location before it is moved.
- Loading photo showing the item on the carrier vehicle.
- Delivery inspection photo set before accepting final handover.
If payment is staged, write the stages in plain language before pickup. SendMoto does not hold funds, arbitrate seller disputes or guarantee recovery if a seller disappears.
Remote handover FAQ
Can the carrier inspect the item for me?
The carrier can document visible condition and pickup details, but cannot perform legal, mechanical or authenticity checks for the buyer.
Should I pay before pickup?
Avoid full payment before seller, item and document checks are complete. If you use staged payment, keep the agreement written and tied to proof steps.
What proof should I ask for?
Ask for seller contact, item identifier, condition photos, pickup location proof, loading photo, delivery photo and all chat/payment records in one thread.
